Since he was elected, he has worked to enact the largest tax cut in the State’s history, provide teachers with a competitive salary, support law enforcement to ensure safe communities, and make Mississippi more business-friendly and attractive for economic development. Lieutenant Governor Hosemann is not a lifelong politician. His career in the private sector has made him a proven and effective leader uniquely qualified to move the State forward.

Effective today, Senator Juan Barnett has submitted his resignation from the Mississippi Senate.
Senator Barnett has faithfully served the constituents of District 34 since 2016. Throughout his tenure, he has been a dedicated public servant and a respected member of the Mississippi Senate, particularly through his work on corrections matters.
We thank Senator Barnett for his years of service to the State of Mississippi and wish him a happy and well-deserved retirement.

21 years ago Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi Gulf Coast in a way that will never be forgotten.
How the Coast has rebuilt is nothing short of inspiring. Through the perseverance and spirit of so many, it has rebuilt, thrived and grown stronger than ever before.
May the memory of the lives lost never dim, and may we always be eternally grateful for those who committed their lives to restoration.
