Secretary of State Looking into Petal Cemetery Sales

Petal, Miss. (WTOK) –

The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office is seeking information about purchases from Forrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Delbert Hosemann’s staff will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Petal Civic Center, 714 South Main Street, to meet with anyone who has pre-purchased cemetery or funeral goods or services from Forrest Memorial on Carterville Road.

Pre-purchased goods or services are items which have been paid for or are being paid for in advance of the time of need. These items might include caskets, burial containers, memorial markers, or grave opening and closing fees.

Individuals who have purchased grave spaces only from Forrest Memorial Gardens, but have not purchased cemetery or funeral goods and services, need not attend.

Attendees should bring clear, legible copies of any documents which may evidence purchases made from Forrest Memorial Gardens. Copies of these documents should be made in advance of the meeting to be left with Secretary of State’s Office staff.
