Delbert is Pro-Life, Pro-Child

Delbert Fights to Protect the Unborn.

Delbert Leads in Pro-Life, Pro-Child Policies.

Following the Dobbs U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade in June 2022, Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann appointed a nine-member study group to hold hearings, hear testimony, and draft legislation related to the issues facing women, children, and families in our State.

In December 2022, the group unveiled a litany of post-Dobbs, pro-life legislation, much of which has since been signed into law. Such legislation includes:

  • Increasing tax credits for Crisis Pregnancy Centers from $3.5 million to $10 million;
  • Increasing the adoption tax credit for the adoption of a Mississippi child from $5,000 to $10,000;
  • Codifying the foster care parent “Bill of Rights” to ensure they are able to participate in, attend, and receive information regarding a foster child in their care;
  • Extending postpartum care for working Mississippi mothers from 60 days to 12 months;
  • Creating the Mississippi Access to Maternal Assistance (“MAMA” Program), which will include a website and mobile app to promote information related to pregnancy, childbirth, and care for dependent children; and
  • Establishing a task force to further study Mississippi’s adoption laws and foster care system with the goal of finding permanent, loving homes for every child in our State.

Delbert will always unapologetically fight to protect the unborn. He also believes being pro-life continues beyond a child’s birth – and will fight for pro-child and pro-family policies in Mississippi.
